Soprano Design Named Finalist for the 2008 Telstra Business Awards

Soprano Design Limited, the leading Australian developer and provider of mobile and wireless messaging solutions, today announced that it has been named a finalist in the 2008 Telstra Business Awards.

Now in its 16th year, the Telstra Business Awards (formerly known as the Telstra Small Business Awards) recognise and reward the ingenuity and innovation of Australia’s most outstanding businesses. This year over 4,500 businesses across Australia were nominated for the Awards, with just a handful of finalists selected from each state. Soprano Design is one of 6 finalists for the Panasonic Australia Medium Business Award in NSW.

Richard Favero, CEO of Soprano Design commented, “We are very excited by our nomination, and now Finalist status in these prestigious Awards. Being recognized alongside such an elite group demonstrates what a great team we have and the great work they have done over the last couple of years.”

Soprano Design was established in 1994 by Founder and CEO Richard Favero after he recognised a need in the Australian and global market for enterprise grade mobile communications for business. Today Soprano has become a powerful driving force behind innovation in the enterprise mobile messaging space in Australia and globally, with achievements such as: SOPRANO Mobile Enterprise Messaging Suite, a finalist at the 2008 Global Mobile Awards for ‘Best Enterprise Messaging Product or Service’, a finalist at the 2007 IBM Beacon Awards, and SOPRANO StaffMatch winner of the Consensus Software Award in 2007.

With a vision to be the globally preferred provider of mobile messaging and wireless application infrastructure for Mobile Network Operators, Mobile Service Provider and Medium to Large businesses, SOPRANO has developed a wide range of proven and tested enterprise-quality mobile messaging (SMS, MMS and Email) products and applications, which streamline and automate critical but common personal interactions to improve staff, customer and supplier communication for business.

“Being named as a Telstra Business Award finalist will provide Soprano Design with invaluable media attention, recognition and independent Australian industry credibility to our applications and services.” said Favero.

Group Managing Director of Telstra Business and Telstra Business Awards Ambassador, Ms Deena Shiff, says hundreds of entries were received for this year’s Awards. “We have uncovered some great success stories this year, and are looking forward to celebrating Australia’s most successful enterprises at these Awards which truly celebrate the entrepreneurial Aussie spirit,” said Ms Shiff.

Winners will be announced on Friday 5 September 2008 at Hilton Sydney, where one business will also be named the 2008 Telstra New South Wales Business of the Year.
