Ericsson, Soprano Design Partner for Location Services

Integrating the Ericsson Mobile Positioning Service (MPS) with Soprano turn-key mobile software solutions to deliver enhanced wireless location based services across Australia

Melbourne. Ericsson Australia Pty Ltd. and Soprano Design Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cooperate on the development of end-to-end solutions for the wireless Internet.

The MOU, an industry first, combines Ericsson’s extensive experience and leadership in mobile telephony with Soprano’s turnkey wireless software solutions to provide the “anywhere, anytime” delivery of industry-best solutions.

Soprano has integrated Ericsson’s Mobile Positioning Service (MPS) with its In Harmony software solutions to enable the delivery of location sensitive information, Australia wide Mr Daryl Joyce, Ericsson Director of Business Development said that the signing of the MOU is another step forward for Ericsson Australia in its drive to be the market leader in the wireless Internet arena.

“Ericsson are always looking to provide the best technical solutions. The flexibility of the Soprano solution allows us to work across different platforms and complement our GSM, WAP, GPRS and third generation mobility systems,” Mr Joyce said.

“As part of the agreement we’ll also look at cooperative arrangements in bundling products, and investigating co-branding and distribution opportunities”, Dr Favero said.
