HWW and Soprano break WAP Carrier Barrier

Leading Australian Internet and media content provider, HWW Limited has broken the carrier barrier, forming a strategic alliance with prominent m-commerce technology supplier, Soprano Design Limited, to deliver content to WAP enabled phones regardless of the network they’re connected to.

The breakthrough arrangement also means HWW’s content can be seamlessly syndicated to a range of WAP service providers. “It will give us the ability to syndicate our content to third-party providers on a business-to-business basis,” The managing director of HWW, Stephen Wall said.

The system is based on Soprano’s real-time delivery InHarmony technology, and HWW will re-purpose its databases of movie session times, entertainment calendars, real-time sports scores and TV listings for the mobile phone environment.

Mr Wall said, “HWW’s new independent WAP portal will be one of the first of its kind in Australia and will allow us to significantly increase our reach into the WAP market.” “We believe that WAP technology and content will open up new streams of commerce which will prove to be very lucrative for HWW,” he said.

The Managing Director of Soprano Design, Dr Richard Favero said, “Thanks to the Soprano technology, this alliance will produce one of the first portals capable of making HWW content accessible to all WAP phone users, regardless of network affiliation.” HWW’s WAP portal is expected to be accessible to WAP-enabled mobile phone users by the end of April this year.
