Soprano to Deliver Telstra Mobile

SOPRANO DESIGN Pty Ltd and TIBCO Software Inc. (Nasdaq: TIBX) today announced that Australia’s largest telecommunications carrier, Telstra Corporation (ASX: TLS) , has awarded SOPRANO the Enhanced Information Services Project to be delivered on the SOPRANO InHarmony Mobile Information Portal platform. SOPRANO embedded TIBCO TIB /Rendezvous, TIB HAWK and TIB SDK into the SOPRANO InHarmony platform to provide a real time scalable architecture to manage the scaling requirements of carriers for mobile information services. The SOPRANO InHarmony platform will deliver personalised news, sport results, e-mail and stock quotes with both push and pull capability.

“Mobile users are demanding anywhere anytime any device information delivery. Carriers, banks and brokers are positioned to have the largest customer base for information delivery and require world class real-time solutions to deliver high-value information,” said Dr Richard Favero, Managing Director of SOPRANO. “Our support of TIBCO software infrastructure ensures that our customers enjoy the core improvements provided by TIBCO and allows SOPRANO to continue to develop high value applications for mobile users.”

Telstra OnAir Head of Products, Mr Rick Wakeham said after an exhaustive evaluation process, Telstra is delighted to announce that it will work with SOPRANO DESIGN to provide its customers with an extensive range of real time personalised content options. “As Australia’s largest telecommunications carrier, Telstra maintains its leadership position through the development of new products and services that utilise the latest in cutting-edge technology. The partnership with SOPRANO will assist Telstra in further reinforcing its leadership status in the Australian telecommunications market,” Mr Wakeham said.

Utilising the same TIBCO software infrastructure that powers the world’s leading Internet portals – such as Yahoo!, AltaVista, CBS Sportsline and Lycos – Soprano enables mobile carriers, banks, brokers and ISPs to quickly develop and deploy customised Mobility Portals, helping them strengthen customer loyalty through creating timely and compelling content. The SOPRANO InHarmony Mobility Portal platform and SOPRANO InCommerce Mobile Commerce solutions are mature solutions providing carriers with solution confidence and high availability.

The SOPRANO solutions ensure increasing value for customers through a prompt and fulfillment model of mobile interaction. This ensures that mobile content is compelling, prompting increasing transactions. Mobility Portals are not valuable until the information is relevant and compelling. Ensuring that mobile users have the information they need allows them to transact with confidence.

“As Internet access via wireless devices becomes ubiquitous, wireless network operators will need to deliver advanced personalised services that differentiate their offerings from the crowded marketplace,” said TIBCO Software chairman and CEO Vivek Ranadiv.
